Fake rideshare driver gets 150 years in prison for series of sexual assaults in SF

A man was sentenced to 150 years to life in prison for a series of rapes committed under the guise of being a rideshare driver in San Francisco, the district attorney’s office said Monday. Orlando Vilchez Lazo, 44, got six life sentences after being convicted of 12 felony counts of kidnapping and violent sexual assaults between 2013 and 2018. Vilchez Lazo was found guilty of two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, four counts of kidnapping, four counts of rape by force or fear and two counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object. According to prosecutors, Vilchez Lazo posed as a rideshare driver and picked up young women who were leaving bars and nightclubs and appeared to be waiting for their rideshare. He then took his victims to remote and secluded areas to rape them. The first rape happened in 2013 when Vilchez Lazo picked up a 21-year-old college student in the Mission District. He took her to an abandoned industrial area, locked the car doors and assaulted her.
