Skopje hosted a regional meeting of chief negotiators and high representatives for EU integration from the Western Balkan countries, Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia, as well as representatives of the European Union and international partners, reported North Macedonia’s Ministry of European Affairs on Tuesday. The meeting focused on the future of EU enlargement, the next Multiannual Financial Framework, and accelerating the harmonization of legislation with that of the EU through more effective cooperation between governments and parliaments. Opening the meeting, North Macedonia’s Minister of European Affairs Bekim Sali said that EU enlargement is a strategic investment in Europe’s security, stability, and prosperity, and the commitment to reforms must be accompanied by a reliable and predictable accession process in which progress is assessed on the basis of merit.
