Velichie Party Registers Candidates for October 25 Presidential Election

Velichie political party submitted documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register Ivelin Mihaylov as its presidential candidate and Yuliana Mateeva as vice-presidential candidate for the October 25, 2026 presidential election. The party submitted 7,000 signatures in support of its registration. Mihaylov said the party entered the race with ambitions and that he and Mateeva were selected following a survey among voters and supporters. Velichie had previously been registered by the CEC to participate in the election. Asked why the candidates were running on behalf of a party rather than a nomination committee, Mihaylov said they did not want to "take people's money" and that it would not be fair to present party-backed candidates as independent. On his geopolitical orientation, Mihaylov said Bulgaria should not take a position against any geopolitical player at such a dangerous time.
