Four Meriden residents were arrested on Sunday after police said they were involved in illegal street racing on Long Island over the weekend. Officers with the Suffolk County, New York, Police Department’s Street Takeover Task Force responded to Express Drive North in Yaphank, New York, around 1:10 a.m. Sunday after a 911 caller reported a large gathering of vehicles. When police arrived, they saw two vehicles racing before the vehicles dispersed, according to police. Officers later stopped a truck that was towing a trailer carrying a race car and arrested four people, all from Meriden. The truck, trailer, and race car were also impounded, police said. Police did not immediately provide details about the charges those who were arrested are facing. “We welcome visitors to Suffolk County.
