The National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC) secured support for the draft Council of Ministers decree setting the poverty line for 2027, subject to the conditions set by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Galab Donev announced following the conclusion of discussions on the proposal to set next year’s poverty line at EUR 443. The proposal was presented by Labour and Social Policy Minister Nataliya Efremova. She said that an increase in the poverty line of 13.4% or EUR 52.37, from the current level is envisaged. According to her, it is updated annually using a specific methodology based on Eurostat’s survey EU statistics on income and living conditions. The poverty line plays an important role in policies aimed at reducing poverty, Efremova said.
