Bulgaria to Seek Remaining EUR 1.8 Billion under Recovery Plan

Bulgaria has yet to receive the remaining EUR 1.8 billion under its Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov told journalists on Saturday. He spoke after the opening ceremony for the 2026/2027 academic year at the University of Telecommunications and Post. Bulgaria would request the funds at the end of September and expects to receive most of them in November or December, he said. Pekanov said he was pleased the RRP had been implemented two weeks ahead of schedule, with all documents and certificates being compiled for submission to the European Commission. He cited projects delivered under the plan, including the university's new campus, the Sofia metro, kindergartens in Sofia and across the country, and electric buses.
