Woke museum pulls Egyptian mummy from display out of 'respect for her wishes'

A museum has pulled a 2,700-year-old Egyptian mummy from public display after bosses said the decision "aligns most closely with what we understand about her own wishes". Manchester Museum has removed the mummified remains of Asru, an ancient Egyptian temple musician, after displaying her for 200 years. The remains had been exhibited at the institution since 1825 and were the last mummified human remains still on public display at the museum. A museum spokesman said the decision "reflects changes in how we think about our responsibility towards ancestors, museum collections and the communities they represent".
