Interior Minister: All Companies Managing, Guarding Ammunition Depots Underestimate Risk, Not Just EMCO

Talking to reporters here on Monday, Interior Minister Ivan Demedrzhiev said that there is an underestimation of the risk not only at EMCO but also among all those who manage and guard ammunition depots. “This work is obviously dangerous, and the current global situation - not just in Bulgaria - creates sources of heightened risk, so security measures must take this into account, including the way these hazardous substances and items are stored,” he noted. He was commenting on the explosions at weapons manufacturer EMCO's ammunition depots in North Central Bulgaria on August 10 and September 12, respectively. Starting Monday, joint teams will be formed to conduct inspections and check every ammunition depot across the country, issuing detailed instructions, the Minister noted.
