Racist, antisemitic graffiti found across San Carlos neighborhood

San Diego police are investigating racist and antisemitic graffiti spray-painted across three blocks of a San Carlos neighborhood, where residents woke up Thursday to find fences, cars and trucks covered in tags. Neighbors near Lake Atlin Drive and Lake Angela Avenue said the vandalism included swastikas, other Nazi symbols and gang-related graffiti. Residents said it was the third nighttime tagging in the neighborhood in as many weeks. For Lina Ghitmas, who is Jewish, seeing the Nazi symbols in her neighborhood was particularly upsetting. “Swastika to me is forbidden, it’s bad,” Ghitmas said. The repeated incidents have left her frightened. “Scary, very scary, we’re being threatened all the time and now it is getting worse,” Ghitmas said. The graffiti was found on fences surrounding homes, a concrete barrier and vehicles.
