Six people were charged or issued complaints after a protest outside Atlantic City Police Headquarters on Saturday that followed days of disagreement over suspected ICE activity in the city. The demonstrators were protesting what they described as suspected activity by federal immigration officials in Atlantic City earlier in the week. “We don’t want no collaboration of ICE with police!” one protester said over a megaphone. Atlantic City police said the demonstration began on Sept. 12 without incident before an altercation broke out in the crowd. When officers came outside, police said protesters were blocking an access area to the Public Safety Building. Video showed an officer directing demonstrators to move to either side. “Move that way on each side, you cannot be in the middle,” the officer said. “This is a public sidewalk,” organizer Cristian Moreno-Rodriguez responded. “Move on that side,” the officer said.
