A cup of black-eyed peas served as a side or included with food orders at The Blazing Chicken Shack II in the northeast Park Hill neighborhood in Denver. The Chicken ShackÕs chef, Rhonda Banks, says they keep their black-eyed peas vegetarian, only lightly seasoned with onion, garlic, and their house seasoning. Banks explains that black-eyed peas recipes often include cooking them with ham hock or turkey.
