Danube Levels Edge Up at Ruse and Svishtov, Draught Restrictions Remain

Danube levels rose slightly at Ruse and Svishtov but fell at most other Bulgarian stations, the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River said on Sunday. Over the past 24 hours, levels rose by 1 to 2 centimetres at Ruse and Svishtov, reaching 122 cm and 69 cm below gauge zero, respectively. The level at Silistra remained unchanged at 116 cm below gauge zero. The other stations recorded falls of between 2 and 5 cm. Their readings were also below gauge zero: 86 cm at Novo Selo, 48 cm at Vidin, 38 cm at Lom, 118 cm at Oryahovo and 25 cm at Nikopol. There had been no new groundings in or outside the navigation channel over the past 24 hours, the River Supervision Directorate said. All draught restrictions remain in force throughout the Bulgarian stretch of the Danube. Hydrological conditions remain difficult.
