Ukraine Sets Sept. 20 Deadline for Simplified AWOL Return

Ukraine’s simplified return program for servicemen who went absent without official leave (AWOL) is set to conclude on Sept. 20, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced. During August 2026, the number of soldiers voluntarily returning to service exceeded new unauthorized departures. The initiative permits servicemen who left units on or before June 12 to select their preferred military branch, unit, and position, while retaining full military pay and benefits upon resuming duties.
