Defence Ministry Takes Balanced Approach to NATO, EU Projects, Minister Says

The Ministry of Defence is taking a balanced approach by participating in a number of projects under NATO and European Union (EU) initiative instruments, Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said during Q&A in Parliament Friday. He was asked by Democratic Bulgaria MP Atanas Slavov which of the new NATO High Visibility Projects launched in 2025-2026 the Ministry of Defence has expressed interest in or plans to join. The Defence Ministry, both through NATO and the EU, is seeking to make maximum use of the new initiatives of the two organizations in a balanced manner, with the national interest, the planning of NATO objectives and capabilities, and the avoidance of duplication as the leading factors, the Minister stressed. He said the Ministry recognizes that participation in High Visibility Projects contributes to the development of defence capabilities, deeper cooperation and greater interoperability among NATO Allies.
