Pa. State Rep. Chris Rabb explains painful family connection to Founding Fathers

Wednesday was a historic day in Philadelphia as members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives gathered at Congress Hall in Old City to commemorate the 250 th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. For State Representative Chris Rabb, however, it wasn’t just a historical event but also a personal one as well. Rabb told NBC10 it was back in 1994 while he was working in the U.S. Senate as a legislative aide when his grandmother hired him to conduct genealogical research on their family. According to Rabb , his family discovered that they were related to the Livingston family that included three of the nation’s Founding Fathers, Robert R. Livingston, Philip Livingston and William Livingston. “It was my great, great, great, great, great grandmother Barbara Williams who was brought over as a girl from one of their several plantations where they owned hundreds of human beings,” Rabb said. “And they plucked her from her family and took her to Manhattan to serve o
