Church of England priest referred to Prevent wins settlement after sacking over LGBT-critical sermon at school

A Church of England chaplain has secured a settlement with the school that sacked him after he told pupils they did not have to accept "LGBT stuff" during a school sermon. Reverend Bernard Randall was dismissed from Trent College, a fee-paying boarding school in Long Eaton, Derbyshire in 2019, and referred to counter-terrorism programme Prevent, just two months after delivering the sermon. He initially appealed his dismissal and had it overturned, but was later made redundant after refusing to accept a reduction in his working hours. The reverend subsequently lost an unfair dismissal claim, though the case was later set to be reheard due to concerns over possible bias within the original tribunal panel.
