The Violet Stone is opening a Tampa location next month, owner and operator Daniel Fekete said by phone Thursday. The Philadelphia native will bring cheesesteaks, well-done pizza and lots of Philly love to South Tampa in about four weeks. The restaurant is taking over the old Renzo’s spot at 3664 W. Kennedy Blvd. Expect a special guest (a “Tampa favorite”) to perform the ribbon cutting honors, Fekete said. And they’ll be giving out a ton of cheesesteaks that day. This will be The Violet Stone’s first brick-and-mortar location in Tampa. Fekete started the concept as a food truck in 2022 then pivoted to a small space in the Kenwood neighborhood of St. Petersburg a year later. In the summer of 2025 he moved The Violet Stone to a larger location in the Crescent Heights neighborhood. The Tampa location will have the same menu as the St. Petersburg restaurant.
