Barnes & Noble returning to Jenkintown after nearly 14 years

Jenkintown book lovers are getting an old friend back. Barnes & Noble is returning nearly 14 years after closing its former Jenkintown bookstore and the new location will be right across the road from its old home. The more than 20,000-square-foot bookstore will officially open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Noble Town Center at 905 Old York Road. The store is taking over the former Bed Bath & Beyond space next to Ross. On opening day, local author K.L. Walther will cut the ribbon and sign copies of her most recent book titled “The Summer of Second Chances.” Costume character Biscuit the Dog will also make a special appearance and host story time events over the weekend. “The new Jenkintown bookstore is emblematic of the renaissance of physical bookstores, and especially that of Barnes & Noble,” organizers wrote in a statement.
