The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said things were smooth at Po Pin Chau trail in Sai Kung East Country Park over the first weekend under a real-name reservation trial scheme. In a social media post, the department said some 1,560 people visited the trail with registration over the past weekend. It said most visitors entered immediately without queuing, adding that they were satisfied with the arrangement. “Some visitors also pointed out foot traffic on the trail had decreased compared with before the reservation arrangement was introduced, with notable improvements at the lookout point which was no longer overcrowded – significantly enhancing visitor experience,” the AFCD said in a statement. The department said it will continue to collect on-site data and visitors’ feedback during the rest of the trial period, which covers the weekends in September, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day Golden Week holiday.
