Dave Allen intends to lodge appeal after opponent falls out of ring in strange no-contest

Dave Allen is hoping to have his no-contest with Thomas Carty overturned after their heavyweight clash ended dramatically. The pair acted as chief support for Katie Taylor’s fairytale sendoff at Croke Park , but the fight was over before it could even get going. Carty fell out of the ring, resulting in his fight with Allen being declared a no-contest Getty Less than 90 seconds into the opening round, Carty was sent tumbling through the ropes after Allen landed a right hand to the back of the Irishman’s head. Carty appeared to fall awkwardly and was tended to by medics at ringside, while a flabbergasted Allen watched on in disbelief. Eventually, Carty made his way back to his feet and walked gingerly back to his dressing room. After much deliberation, referee Emile Tiedt declared the fight a no-contest, to the dismay of Allen, who now intends to take his case to the British Boxing Board of Control.
