Bulgarian lawmaker Dimitar Avramov (Movement for Rights and Freedoms) has agreed to the continuation of criminal proceedings before the Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC) following a request by acting Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova to lift his parliamentary immunity, Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova announced during a plenary session Friday. On Thursday, acting Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova submitted a request to the 52nd National Assembly to lift the immunity of lawmaker D. A., following a proposal by a prosecutor from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor’s Office, the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office said. The prosecution said that in a ruling issued by the Sofia Court of Appeal in October 2025, the acquittal handed down by the Sofia City Court was overturned and D. A. was found guilty of influence peddling committed jointly with another person. The remainder of the lower court’s conviction was upheld, the prosecution said.
