Three much-loved UK restaurant chains are closing down for good today after their parent company's latest restructuring efforts. Some 66 restaurants are shutting after Whitbread, the owner of Premier Inn, opted to cease operations at three of its hospitality brands. Said brands include Bar + Block, Cookhouse + Pub, and Table + Table, with Whitbread beginning of a sweeping September restructuring that will ultimately see 261 restaurants shut permanently across the country. Further brand closures are expected throughout the month. Table + Table had been a fixture on Britain's dining scene for close to 18 years, while Bar + Block and Cookhouse + Pub each operated for roughly a decade. Bar + Block, launched in 2016 as an all-day steakhouse with a cocktail menu, was designed to attract a younger demographic.
