Akasa Air expands Southeast Asia footprint

Akasa Air on Friday began operations in Hanoi, Vietnam, with four weekly direct flights connecting the city with Mumbai. Hanoi is the airline’s seventh international destination and its second destination in Southeast Asia after Phuket.The inaugural flight departed from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 5:35 am IST and arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 12 pm local time.The new route aims to meet rising demand among Indian travellers visiting Vietnam and support growing tourism and business links between the two countries.The flag-off ceremony at Mumbai airport was attended by Anand Srinivasan, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Akasa Air; Bhavin Joshi, co-founder and senior vice-president of strategy; Vietnam’s Ambassador to India Trinh Minh Manh; and Le Quang Bien, consul general of Vietnam.Representatives from the Adani Group, the Central Industrial Security Force, customs and immigration departments also attended the event.With
