Bulgaria Reports Continuing Minimal Water Level Fluctuations in Drought-Plagued Danube

Minimal fluctuations in the water level of the Danube River continued over the past 24 hours at the gauging stations along the Bulgarian section of the river, the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River (EAEMDR) reported on Saturday morning. The water level remained unchanged at Novo Selo, while declines of between 1 and 3 centimetres were recorded at Vidin, Lom, Oryahovo, Nikopol, Svishtov and Ruse. At Silistra, the level rose by 2 cm. As of Saturday morning, the level at Ruse is 105 cm below the reference level of the gauging station, while at Silistra it is 93 cm below. Restrictions on the draught of vessels in the Bulgarian section of the Danube remain in place due to the reduced dimensions of the navigation channel.
