The retail trade volume in Bulgaria has increased by 5.6% in July 2026, compared to July 2025, which puts the country in fifth place in the EU alongside Malta, show Eurostat data.Among Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases in the total retail trade volume were recorded in Cyprus (+8.6%), Latvia (+7.1%), Sweden (+6.4%) and Lithuania (+5,9%).However, growth in Bulgaria is decelerating compared to the 7.1% reported in June and 7.9% in May. On a monthly basis, the volume of retail trade in the country fell by 0.2% in July, following a 0.4% increase in June. The yearly retail trade volume has increased by 0.6% in the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU compared with July 2025. The rates are slowing compared with 1.4% and 1.7%, respectively, reported in June.
