Thousands Protest аcross Serbia to Mark 22 Months Since Novi Sad Railway Station Tragedy

Thousands of students and citizens took part in protests across Serbia on Tuesday to mark 22 months since the collapse of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad, which killed 16 people and left one person seriously injured. The protesters gathered in Belgrade near the old railway station and marched in long columns along a pre-announced route, ending with a 16-minute silence in tribute to the victims. “We are appealing to everyone. The truth about what actually happened and who is responsible for the tragedy in Novi Sad must come to light. This is a matter of accountability to society. And this issue concerns not only those in power but all of us,” said Andrej Popovic, a student at the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Law. He added that the students are conducting their campaign on the ground, setting up information stands and organizing charity events, as well as campaigning on social media.
