He said he killed Tampa teen in self-defense. Jury convicted him of murder

In describing the shooting of 14-year-old Jevario Buie , Assistant State Attorney Chinwe Fossett repeatedly used one word: “Execution.” When Buie found himself on a secluded stretch of railroad tracks in North Tampa on April 17, 2024, Fossett said, Jahmir Moore knew exactly what would happen next. He pulled the trigger four times, Fossett said, twice after Buie had fallen to the ground. Fossett said Moore had been “salivating about killing” ever since a friend told him he’d been shot at by one of Buie’s friends — Curtis Norton — at the Claymore Crossing Apartments in the Mango area a month earlier. “Anybody attached to Curtis Norton is collateral damage if the need arises. If it’s Jevario Buie then so be it,” Fossett said during her closing argument. “That’s all this case is, there’s no mistake about it.” After four hours of deliberation, a Hillsborough jury convicted Moore, 17, of first-degree murder. He faces a sentence of 40 years to life in prison. A judge will decide in October. A
