Long Island community has never had mail home delivery. They're looking to change that

One man on Long Island is on a personal crusade to what his neighbors call a “mail mess” that has gone on for decades. In the Nassau County hamlet of Glenwood Landing, residents are frustrated because they live in one of the few communities on the island that does not get mail delivered to their homes. “I don’t know why we don’t have mail delivery. That’s what this is about,” said resident Jeremy Barth. Barth stood outside the local post office on Wednesday urging neighbors to sign his petition and join his mission to bring home mail delivery to the roughly 1,400 homes. “If you had to drive to the post office for 10-15 minutes every day to pick up your mail, you’d be inconvenienced,” he said. For 42 years, Barth’s mail — like everyone else’s in Glenwood Landing — has been delivered to a P.O. Box in the post office.
