Chef Paul Kahan, Manny's Cafeteria & Deli to be honored at 2027 Banchet Awards

The annual Banchet Awards will return in 2027 for its 25th anniversary and two icons in the Chicago culinary scene are set to be honored. The celebration of Chicago’s best food will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31, organizers announced this week. Tickets will be announced in the early fall, along with a list of the final four nominees in each award category. That said, two winners of the night’s biggest awards have already been determined. Chef Paul Kahan, known best for several acclaimed restaurants, including avec, The Publican, Big Star and Dove’s Luncheonette, will receive the Culinary Excellence Award, and Manny’s Cafeteria and Deli will be recognized with the Iconic Restaurant Award. “The Banchets has always been about restaurants supporting restaurants,” said Michael Muser, Executive Director of the Banchet Foundation. “Becoming a nonprofit allows us to build on that mission and do more for the community we celebrate.
