Food Safety Agency Blocks Another 16.3 Tonnes of Turkish Grapes over Excessive Pesticide Residues

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has prevented another shipment of table grapes from Türkiye from entering the EU market after excessive levels of pesticide residues were detected, the Agency said in a press release on Tuesday. The shipment comprised 16,300 kg of grapes in 2,904 crates and was returned to the sender. Laboratory tests found pesticide residues exceeding the legally permitted maximum levels. The non-compliant shipment was detected as part of the BFSA's stepped-up controls on fresh fruit and vegetables, aimed at ensuring food safety and traceability and establishing the actual origin of products offered on the market.
