Health Minister Ivkova: Health Inspectorates Will Not Close, Reimbursement Council to Be Restructured

Regional Health Inspectorates are to become territorial directorates under the Health Ministry rather than be closed, Minister of Health Katya Ivkova told the parliamentary Health Committee on Thursday. The discussion concerned plans to streamline the Health Ministry’s administration and secondary budget holders. Ivkova said the inspectorates will no longer be independent legal entities, allowing them to focus on their specialized work. She added that their functions will not be reduced and that the change concerns the general administration. The inspectorates will no longer have directors, deputy directors or secretaries. “We will also upgrade the information system,” Ivkova said. Another change concerns the National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products, which will become a directorate within the Health Ministry. Ivkova said the Council’s expertise will be retained. Ivkova said a functional analysis using the relevant methodology was conducted for the inspectorate
