The European Union's future budget was a key focus of talks between Romanian President Nicusor Dan and European Council President Antonio Costa on Thursday. The two met at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace in Bucharest. Their joint statements were broadcast live online. Dan said: “Romania is seeking an ambitious European Union budget. We want significant funding for cohesion policy and agriculture, precisely in order to bridge the differences between citizens of the various European countries.” He stressed that Romania attaches great importance to the competitiveness pillar. “Here, our goal is to reduce the gap between European nations by ensuring that companies from less developed European countries, such as Romania, have access to competitiveness funds,” the Romanian president explained.
