4 people injured after van strikes police cruiser, other vehicles on Girard Ave.

At least four people were injured overnight, officials said, when the driver of a van plowed into a police cruiser and continued on into three other vehicles along Girard Avenue in Philly’s Brewerytown section early Monday. According to police, the incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. when the driver of a black Mercedes van driving along Girard Avenue struck a police vehicle at the intersection at 28th Street. In the course of the crash, officials said, the van struck “multiple vehicles” causing injuries to four people. However, officials said these individuals all suffered minor injures. Police did not immediately say if an officer was among those injured in this crash. Officials also did not immediately say if the driver involved in this crash was arrested or could face changes in this incident. But, an investigation into the crash remained ongoing on Monday morning.
