The Oakland Police Department is asking for the public’s help following a shooting involving an officer Sunday near 22nd Avenue and East 28th Street near Manzanita Park. Police arrested 44-year-old Aleem Spencer in connection with the incident. Officers were responding to 911 calls reporting a man, later identified as Spencer, threatening to harm a female victim, according to the OPD. Upon arrival, police said Spencer fired multiple shots at responding officers. Spencer also allegedly set several items on fire and threw them at officers before setting a home ablaze. The case remains under active investigation. Anyone with information regarding Spencer or the incident is asked to call 510-238-3821 or the OPD Tip Line at 510-238-7950. Video or photo evidence can be submitted to cidvideos@oaklandca.gov. The Oakland Fire Department is leading the arson investigation.
