A woman is facing charges after she allegedly abandoned her infant child behind an Indiana strip mall, leaving a note with the baby. According to Indianapolis police , officers were called to a strip mall near the 5400 block of East Thompson Road at approximately 6:49 p.m. on August 24 for a report of an abandoned child. Eyewitnesses told police they had observed a woman walk behind the mall carrying a car seat, then return to a vehicle without the car seat. Authorities found a child behind the mall, according to police. The child was not injured, and was brought to an area hospital for observation. According to NBC affiliate WTHR, the baby was accompanied by a handwritten note, which contained the child’s name and the woman’s name. “I am unable to keep him. He needs a good family,” the note read. On Wednesday, police say they arrested a 24-year-old woman on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent.
