North Beach temporarily closed on Saturday after a fishing vessel, with approximately 1,000 gallons of diesel onboard, ran aground on Friday, Point Reyes National Seashore said. The U.S. Coast Guard said Lake Bay, the 58-foot fishing vessel, ran aground on Friday morning in Point Reyes National Seashore. They said the vessel has a maximum fuel capacity of 2,800 gallons and is reported to have approximately 1,000 gallons of diesel onboard. Point Reyes National Seashore said the National Park Service is coordinating with the U.S. Coast Guard Southwest District, NOAA and Marin County Fire while the Coast Guard works to find a contractor to remove the fuel from the vessel. Authorities added no injuries or fuel leaks have been reported. Authorities said visitors are asked to stay clear of North Beach during the closure to ensure first responders work safely and without interference.
