Two people are in custody after a man stole a car and a second person called police claiming that a baby was inside, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. This all unfolded just before 10 p.m. in North Philadelphia when a person called police saying that a car was stolen from 5th Street and Allegheny Avenue with a 6-month-old baby in it, Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said. Eventually the car, a silver Cadillac XTS, was found by police and the driver led officers on a brief chase before officers stopped, Pace explained. Then, the person driving the stolen car stopped and started to run away from the intersection of 2nd and Tioga streets, Pace said. Officers were able to catch up to him and placed him in custody. When officers approached the vehicle to look inside, they did not find a baby, according to Pace. Detectives believe there was never a child inside in the car. The person who called police was also taken into custody and could face charges, Pace said. Police
