Police in suburban Elmhurst issued a community alert Thursday night after a reported sexual battery occurred while a woman was running on a popular trail. The incident occurred between 8:45 and 9 p.m. between York Street and Pioneer Park on the Illinois Prairie Path, a popular trail for runners, walkers and bikers. According to police, the incident involved a woman that was battered while running on the path. Police released photos of the suspect, who was wearing a red shirt, light colored cargo shorts and a black cap. Public safety cameras recorded the suspect leaving the area on an electric scooter, riding west on Vallette Street from York Street. “Residents are asked to call 911 if they observe the suspect or have information, including home security video that will help identify him,” Elmhurst police said. According to police, an alert was issued to neighborhoods surrounding the Illinois Prairie Path in Elmhurst following the report. No further details were provided.
