Bulgaria Sees 4th Highest Fuel and Lubricant Price Jump in EU in July 2026 Y/Y

According to data released by Eurostat on Friday, Bulgaria saw the fourth highest fuel price jump in July 2026 year-on-year, compared to the rest of the EU, with 22.2%. The country was only behind Romania with 24.2% and Germany and Lithuania with 22.9% each. In July 2026, the price of fuels and lubricants for personal transport in the EU increased by 16.9% compared with July 2025. This followed year-on-year increases of 20.7% in May and 13.7% in June. In 25 out of 27 EU Member States, fuels and lubricants prices were higher in July 2026, compared with July 2025. In 13 countries, July annual increases were larger than those in June 2026. However, in 24 countries, the annual rate of change in July was lower than in May 2026, when four countries registered annual price increases exceeding 30%. Prices saw a marginal drop of 0.1% in Hungary. The increased the least in Sweden with 1.2% and in Ireland with 3.2%.
