Sofia City Hall Encourages Public Participation in Deciding Future of Central Park

The Sofia local authorities are encouraging public ideas for the future of the Knyazheska park in central Sofia. "Next week, we will launch a dedicated website for Knyazheska Garden that will serve as a tool for collecting ideas," Sofia Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning and Development Lyubomir Georgiev told a briefing at the Sofia Municipal Council on Thursday. The briefing concerned the preparation of the terms of reference for an architectural competition for the transformation of the park. Georgiev explained that it would make sense to launch an architectural competition once the purpose of the park environment has been determined. The aim, he said, is to reach a consensus on how the site formerly occupied by the monument should be used and whether the park should have more green spaces and playgrounds or place greater emphasis on the site's historical significance.
