A new mural in East San Jose is paying tribute to three local legends. The mural, located at the Y Market on South White Road, honors Heisman Trophy winner and two-time Super Bowl champion Jim Plunkett, Dr. Roberto Cruz and acclaimed playwright and filmmaker Luis Valdez. Local artist Francisco Ramirez painted the mural after residents, business owners and community leaders were asked who they wanted to see represented in their neighborhood. The mural is part of a $100,000 investment in public art throughout East San Jose. Organizers say the goal is to beautify the area while celebrating the people and stories that helped shape the East Side.
