Fire near Lukoil Refinery in Ploiesti Brought Under Control

The fire that broke out earlier Wednesday at a warehouse storing thinners near the Lukoil refinery in the Romanian city of Ploiesti, about 80 km north of Bucharest, has been brought under control, the Department for Emergency Situations told BTA. "There is no longer a risk of the fire spreading. Firefighters are working to extinguish it completely," the Prahova Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said. Flames have engulfed a 1,000 sq m warehouse storing thinners. Due to the thick smoke, residents in the area received an alert via the RO-ALERT system. "According to the information available so far, there were three workers inside the warehouse, who are out of danger. Fortunately, there are no casualties," Andreea Ursachi, spokesperson for the Prahova Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, said. The Department for Emergency Situations posted photographs of all fire engines involved in Wednesday's operation on its official Facebook page.
