Incumbent Pasco County Commissioner Lisa Yeager was leading by a two-to-one margin in early returns Tuesday night. She was facing off against Jonathon Deckard, a Marine Corps veteran, in Tuesday’s primary. Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Yeager to the commission in May 2024 . A former Pasco Hernando State College official with powerful Florida GOP connections, she won her reelection campaign later that year and also appears to have won again on Tuesday. Yeager owns a boating company. She worked at Pasco-Hernando State College and previously directed a Pasco County Schools program that helps pregnant or parenting high schoolers graduate. Yeager is also married to state Rep. Brad Yeager , R-New Port Richey, and is the sister of former Florida House speaker Chris Sprowls. Deckard ran to stop “out-of-control development” and protect agricultural land. Tuesday’s winner will face Louie Rodriguez, a write-in candidate who hasn’t raised campaign funds, in November.
