The comments included here are occasionally edited for length but otherwise largely appear as they did on the article or column online. On an article about how Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan has worked for two decades to land a Major League Baseball team in Tampa. How is it wasteful to put a competitive baseball team into a thriving city that has a baseball history greater than almost any other. This is a watershed moment for this town. Candidly the affection for baseball has always been greater on this side of the Bay. This is the town that raised Garvey, Gooden, Boggs, Sheffield and countless others. This is the town of Al Lopez, Belmont Heights, West Tampa. We could use some of the old West Tampa voices to get this done. Lou Piniella and Tino — where is the advocacy? The legacy of West Tampa could only dream of this chance. It is here. No one cares what went into Tropicana — and it did not change your life
