Mother killed, child hurt in Rockville pedestrian crash

A woman died and her child survived after they were hit by a vehicle in Rockville on Monday night, authorities say. The mother and child were hit at Twinbrook Parkway and Chapman Avenue, Montgomery County police said. Officers and rescue crews were dispatched at about 8:25 p.m. The victims were taken to a hospital, where the woman died and the children was treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening. The driver stayed on the crash scene and was cooperating with investigators, police said. The woman’s name was not immediately released, nor was the child’s age, information on the potential cause of the crash or if the driver could face charges.
