The Chicago Cubs have made a series of roster moves prior to their series against the Chicago White Sox. On Monday, the Cubs placed shortstop Dansby Swanson on the 10-day injured list after he left Sunday’s game with a left oblique strain. The Cubs also placed pitcher Edward Cabrera on the 15-day injured list with a blister on his right middle finger. In corresponding roster moves, the Cubs recalled pitcher Javier Assad and outfielder Kevin Alcantara from Triple-A Iowa. According to the Cubs, the team will also select the contract of infielder Owen Miller from Triple-A Iowa, and will option James Triantos back to the minor leagues. Finally, closer Daniel Palencia was transferred to the 60-day injured list as he continues his comeback from a right elbow ailment. Swanson was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals after he grimaced following a swing in his first at-bat.
