E-bike rider struck and killed in Camden County; driver charged, officials say

A 65-year-old woman is facing charges after she struck and killed a woman riding an e-bike in Lindenwold on Saturday, Aug. 15, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday . The crash occurred at around 10:24 p.m. at the 1900 block of Laurel Road, officials said. The e-bike rider, identified as 46-year-old Erica Beeks, of Lindenwold, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10:42 p.m., officials said. The driver of the car that struck Beeks, 65-year-old Deborah Carey, of Pine Hill, remained at the scene, but she has been charged with second-degree death by auto, as well as driving under the influence and other traffic offenses, officials said. Carey is in custody at the Camden County Correctional Facility, officials said. The investigation remains ongoing, officials said.
