Delaware man arrested after woman hurt in knife attack at Hockessin Wawa

A 36-year-old Hockessin, Delaware man has been arrested and charged with assault and related offenses after, officials claim, he attacked and injured an employee with a knife at a Delaware Wawa in an incident that happened on Sunday. According to police, Matthew Ralston was apprehended and charge with assault, weapon possession an related offenses following an incident that happened at about 3 a.m. at a Wawa store along the 600 block of Yorklyn Road in Hockessin, Delaware on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026. The incident unfolded, officials said, after Ralston is alleged to have hung around the parking lot after making a purchase at the store early Sunday. Eventually, police said, Ralston went back into the store, walked behind the counter and produced a knife. He then threatened and tried to stab an employee at the Wawa, police claim.
