The day did not start well on the Orange Line, and then it got even worse: At 5:47 a.m., the MBTA reported delays due to a dead train between Downtown Crossing and Chinatown. But maybe the newish train didn't die on its own; it had help from some whack track, because at 6:30, the T said Orange Line service was all bollixed due to "a track problem at Chinatown" and that it was throwing in the towel and just canceling all service between North Station and Back Bay and wheeled out the usual advice to take the Green Line should you be downtown already. At 9:42 a.m., the T announced the Orange Line was still deader than a doornail, and that it had started up some bustitution between Ruggles and Back Bay.
