A checklist for a grocery store run doesn’t have to be extensive. A Pub Sub for lunch. Maybe a bundle of parsley to cook dinner. Or how about a restock on paper towels? Some shops have checkout lanes for a specific number of items. Not Publix. Well, not anymore. The Lakeland grocer is taking away its 10-items-or-less checkout lanes, and will no longer have a specific number of items in its express lanes. Why the change? Publix updated its express lane process to provide associates with more flexibility in managing customer flow and reducing wait times, said the company in a statement when the Tampa Bay Times reached out for comment. “To better serve our customers and improve checkout efficiency, we recently updated our express lane process to provide associates with greater flexibility in managing customer flow,” the statement said. “Rather than adhering to a specific item limit, our focus is on reducing wait times and ensuring customers can be served as efficiently as possible.” Repor
